What is an Ecosphere?

An EcoSphere is a completely closed ecosystem in which shrimp, algae, and microorganisms live together in a natural cycle.

A small, self-sustaining ecosystem.

In an EcoSphere, shrimp, algae, and microorganisms live in a finely tuned biological cycle. The glass is permanently sealed after production. There is no need to feed the inhabitants or change the water.
Light provides the energy for the system. The organisms contained within constantly use and recycle the available nutrients. This creates a small, living world that combines nature, science, and design.

What makes them special?

Completely Closed

After creation, the ecosystem remains permanently sealed. Water, animals, or food are no longer added.

Vibrant and unique

Shrimp, algae, and all biological components make each ecosystem unique.

Easy Care

The most important contribution consists of a suitable location, indirect light, and as consistent a temperature as possible.

What lives in a closed ecosystem?

The small shrimp are the most visible part of the ecosystem. They feed on algae and natural biofilm that forms on gravel, glass, and gorgonian.

Algae use incident light for photosynthesis and produce oxygen. Bacteria and other microorganisms process organic residues and release nutrients from them.

Each component fulfills a task and contributes to the natural balance of the system.

How does the circulatory system work?

Indirect light provides the energy for photosynthesis.

2. Algae

The algae produce oxygen and form part of the food base.

3. Shrimp

The shrimp feed on algae and natural biofilm.

4. Microorganisms

Bacteria convert organic residues back into available nutrients.

5. A New Cycle

The nutrients are reabsorbed by the algae and reused within the system.

Why Not Feed?

Shrimps, algae, and microorganisms perform different tasks in the ecosystem. Shrimps feed on algae and biofilm. The gorgonian provides additional surfaces where this natural growth can form. Bacteria process organic residues and return the contained nutrients to the cycle.

The closed ecosystem has its own natural nutrient cycle. Shrimps feed on algae and biofilm, while microorganisms convert organic matter back into nutrients.

Additional food or a water change would alter this delicate balance. Therefore, the system remains permanently sealed and is influenced as little as possible from the outside.

What does the ecosystem need?

Indirect Lighting

A location that is not too bright and without direct sunlight supports photosynthesis without heating the water too much.

Even temperature

Maintaining a stable room temperature between 16°C and 26°C protects the biological balance.

Time and peace of mind

Changes develop slowly. The ecosystem should not be frequently reorganized or shaken up.

Every System is Unique

Every ecosystem is prepared, designed, biologically tested by hand and only permanently sealed after a stabilization phase.

Gorgonians are also cut by hand and vary in shape and branching. Gravel, shrimp, algae development, and the arrangement of components can also vary.

These natural differences are not a defect, but part of the special character of each individual ecosystem.
