With spring, the days get longer, and the sun rises higher in the sky. If your eccosmo ecosystem has never experienced a spring or summer in its current location, now is the right time to check if it is still in the right place.

Why sunlight changes in spring
The position of the sun changes throughout the year. A location that had no direct sunlight in winter might now suddenly get some sunlight. Even a short time in direct sun can disturb the delicate balance in your ecosystem.
- Algae growth: The first sign of too much light is an increase in algae. A light film of algae is normal, but if the glass quickly turns green or the water becomes cloudy, your ecosystem is probably getting too much light.
- Temperature increase: More sunlight can also increase the internal temperature, which can stress the shrimp and disrupt the delicate balance of your mini-ecosystem.
How to protect your ecosystem in spring:
✔ Check sunlight: Observe how the light in your room changes throughout the day. Even if your ecosystem was safe in winter, it might now be exposed to direct sun.
✔ Keep it in dim, indirect light: The best location for an eccosmo ecosystem is a shaded or gently lit area. Avoid bright, direct sunlight or strong reflections from windows.
✔ Adjust location if necessary: If you notice increased algae growth or rising water temperatures, move your ecosystem to a location with less light. A shelf, a shaded corner, or a room with diffused daylight are ideal.
✔ Use algae as an indicator: A little algae growth is normal, but if it increases rapidly, it's a sign of too much light. Adjust the location accordingly.
✔ Check regularly, especially in summer: Light conditions continue to change with the seasons. Therefore, check every few months whether your ecosystem is still in the best location.
By paying attention to seasonal light changes, you ensure that your eccosmo ecosystem remains healthy and stable! Have you already noticed changes in your ecosystem? Share your experiences in the comments!
